WORLD SERVICE WORK

In our group meditations we work to bring in the light with the focus on world need. We work to build the thoughtforms of solution to the world problems. We work with the power of the mind - energy follows thought - on the mental plane, the plane of the soul. As the soul is group conscious this work is group work at the level of the soul and it is in group consciousness that we connect with other servers in our meditation. This is world service work and we connect with what is known as the new group of world servers (often referred to as NGWS) who are those working for the betterment of the planet and all upon it. This group is united in a subjective way in the inner life and not all world servers are aware of this but some, like us, are.

This work calls upon us as individuals to be the highest and best that we can be. It calls upon us to sacrifice our focus on the petty concerns and difficulties of the lower self for the greater good. Just insofar as we are successful in making this sacrifice so too, do we aid the world disciple that is  humanity as a whole, in the same struggle on a larger scale. The present time is always one of opportunity. When we look at the world now what we see is the result of the faulty, self-centred thinking of the past. The future is being built on the way we think now. This is a responsibility in which we all can play our part, each and every day by keeping our thoughts positive with the vision of a better future for all in mind. When we do this we can then learn as a group to hold the mind in the light of the soul, for the building of the new age civilisation and culture depends upon our group work now.

LAWS AND PRINCIPLES

These are the Laws and Principles upon which the new age culture is to be based:

1. The Law of Right Human Relations and the Principle of Goodwill
2. The Law of Group Endeavour and the Principle of Group Unanimity
3. The Law of Spiritual Approach and the Principle of Essential Divinity 

When we work to build the lighted thoughtforms of solution to world problems we can have these Laws and Principles in mind, and each time we say the Great Invocation too.

THE SEVEN RAYS

We aim to work also to bring in without impediment the Seven Rays to aid humanity. These rays are as follows:

1. The Will aspect; divine purpose and divine life related to Shamballa     which is the planetary head centre or inner spiritual government.
2. The Love aspect; divine love-wisdom related to the Hierarchy, the heart centre of the planet, or the Kingdom of Souls.
3. The Creative Intelligence or Adaptability aspect; humanity, the throat centre.
4. Harmony through conflict as in humanity
5. Concrete Science
6. Devotion and Idealism
7. Ceremonial Ritual and Order/Organisation

The Divine Aspects are the first three rays and the Divine Attributes are the rest of the rays which we aim to channel according to the zodiacal sign. Certain signs are said to govern the incoming of certain rays each month.

ALIGNMENT

During our group monthly meditations we begin by linking up in consciousness with the new group of world servers on behalf of all humanity. Only when we have done that can we then proceed to link up with the other two planetary centres, the Hierarchy as the planetary Heart centre [sometimes known as the Kingdom of Souls or Saints, or as the Society of Illuminated minds in the East] bringing in love-wisdom and Shamballa, the planetary Head centre, where the will and purpose of God, the planetary Logos, is known. This Head centre is the inner government of the planet where wise decisions for the future are made but the free will of humans is never impinged upon; it is always up to us to make the right choices.

It is only as we act as a group and on behalf of humanity as a whole [the planetary throat or creative centre of intelligence] that we are able to channel in the higher energies in increasing measure. These energies are far too potent to be handled safely by individuals working alone. Thus we learn to develop a group consciousness on behalf of the greater good. It is only by sacrificing our individual concerns and accepting the responsibility for group world service in this way that the powerful energies from both Hierarchy and Shamballa can be channelled into humanity.

BUILDING THOUGHTFORMS OF SOLUTION

When we work to build the lighted thoughtforms of solution to world problems in this way, we might like to consider what qualities are needed as well as the rays and the laws and the principles; cooperation, respect and trust for example. We might also like to think of abstract symbols for these thoughtforms: maybe an unfolding 12 petalled lotus radiating light and love to all; or a star similarly radiating out? It is useful to remember that we need to be all-inclusive and impersonal at this high level of work with the abstract universal energies coming into humanity.

It is also useful to realise that humanity is said to be the middle kingdom between the superhuman kingdoms of Shamballa and Hierarchy and the three sub-human kingdoms of the animal, vegetable and mineral. Humanity is therefore in a unique position, poised between heaven and earth, as it were, and with the gift of intelligent consciousness. We therefore act in our meditations as the mediators between kingdoms, stepping down the higher energies for distribution to the rest of humanity and the lower kingdoms. This is planetary service and aids in the evolutionary process of the redemption of matter, raising up from the lower to the higher levels of soul and spirit.

So we aim to expand our consciousness from that of the individual to the group. Then from the group consciousness we can perhaps gain some access to the planetary or world consciousness. Eventually we may even begin to appreciate a universal consciousness, especially if we can envisage ourselves as cells in the body of the planetary Logos and that planetary Logos as one of the centres in the body of the Solar Logos and that Logos as one of the centres in the body of one of the Cosmic Logoi. Only thus can we gain a right and proper perspective, where the unit is to be seen as an integral part of a much greater whole with all parts very much inter-related and interconnected in one gigantic process of evolutionary movement towards manifestation of synthesis.

In our search for ways and means that this inner synthesis of the One Life can be seen in expression, perhaps we can look at that beacon of light which is the United Nations as it represents the best of humanity’s thinking right now.

THE UNITED NATIONS, THE 4 FREEDOMS AND THE MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The U.N. was based on promoting the Four Freedoms:

The Four Freedoms
1. Freedom from want.
2. Freedom from fear.
3. Freedom of worship.
4. Freedom of speech.

Then in 2000 we had the formulation of the following:

Millennium Development Goals

1. Eradicate extreme poverty/hunger.
2. Achieve universal primary education.
3. Promote gender equality and empower women.
4. Reduce child mortality.
5. Improve maternal health.
6. Combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases.
7. Ensure environmental sustainability.
8. Develop a global partnership for development.

Can we see the synthesis in these Freedoms and Goals? Can we see the developing sense of responsibility and respect that is being engendered in the consciousness of humanity  as we learn to think as one? Can we see that from these, right human relations and right relations with all upon the planet will manifest? This is the work that we aid in our creative group meditations each month and that we aid with our lighted, positive and all-inclusive thoughts at all times, seeing the U.N. as one of the brightest points of light upon the planet.

EARTH CHARTER INITIATIVE

If we look too, at the opportunity afforded by the Earth Charter Initiative, launched also in 2000 at the Peace Palace in the Hague, we see again that a sense of oneness and synthesis permeates its four principles as follows:

I Respect and care for the community of life.
II Ecological Integrity.
III Social and economic justice.
IV Democracy, non-violence and peace.

The mission of the Initiative is “to establish a sound ethical foundation for the emerging global society….It seeks to inspire in all peoples a new sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well being of the human family and the larger living world. It is an expression of hope and a call to help create a global partnership at a critical juncture in history”.[www.earthcharter.org]

As far as ecological integrity is concerned we need look no further than the Bali Summit following the Kyoto Protocol of thirteen years ago to sense the opportunity for humanity to attain a new and higher level of living right now. In addition it can be seen that the idea of war as being a solution to any conflict is becoming out-dated as humanity grows increasingly weary of the consequences of fighting; death, destruction, misery, social and economic instability. In all areas of human endeavour we can see improvements in the thinking and planning stages even if the expressions of these improvements are imperfect as yet, as we are. We are all very much a “work in progress”!

In our meditations on the Cycle of Conferences for Earth Stewardship and the Palestinian/Israeli conflict we work with the will aspect, therefore purpose and Shamballa are involved. When we think of the planetary head centre, Shamballa and the planetary heart centre, Hierarchy we can think of these centres as states of consciousness. The energy of the first ray, the will-to-good is the most potent of all energies and we are told that the high Spiritual Beings in Shamballa meditate to understand the purpose of the planetary Logos. This purpose is then stepped down to the centre Hierarchy so that in meditation there, the Plan is formulated. It is this Plan with which we aim to co-operate in our group meditations as we step the ideas down into the mental climate of humanity. This work with the power of the will should always be done in group formation mentally, that is, if there is no physical group.

The ancient wisdom teaching also refers to the lower self as the personality and as the three bodies: the lower concrete mind; the astral or emotional; and the etheric. In addition, there are references to the “city which stands four-square” which refers to the three bodies of the lower self plus the physical body. [The physical body is regarded as an automaton and not a principle like the others because it responds to the etheric body, which in turn responds to the astral body, which in turn responds to the mental body and so on, depending upon the level of consciousness.]

The soul is regarded as a triangle: will; love; and light, as is the spirit [known as the spiritual triad on an even higher plane or state of consciousness]: atma; buddhi; and manas. The work of Triangles meditation is changing the personality squares of the etheric energy body of the planet into the triangles of the soul.

TRIANGLES

With all our meditations we aim to create a positive mental climate as in daily life we aim to manifest soul qualities. We can see these qualities as energies that are seeking to redeem or redirect the forces of the personality, the lower self, according to the selfless soul intent. All the soul qualities are already in existence but the point is that by our conscious awareness of them, the path opens up more widely for us. Then in meditation we can deliberately participate in the creation of thoughtforms that express these qualities as purely as possible.

We can also understand the present moment in relation to the flow of energies whose nature is cyclic movement. The cycles of the year, month, week and day have the pattern of focus, tension, crisis and recognition. These correspond with the four stages of the meditation process: Inhalation; Higher Interlude; Exhalation; and Lower Interlude. So, in every moment, we “pray without ceasing”. Every moment then is part of the group invocation and the group expression of the evoked energy.

When we think of the five planetary inlets, London, Darjeeling, New York, Tokyo and Geneva we might like to think of them as two triangles with New York central to both. Geneva and Darjeeling form the higher points of their respective triangles. In this way we can also sense them to be the planetary ajna centre - which the teaching tells us is the new group of world servers. The energies of the two triangles can be seen then as forming the shape of the two petals of the ajna centre.

Some might like to view the five planetary centres as a five-pointed star. This kind of abstract imaging helps with the development of the visualisation process but this does not necessarily mean that a picture has to be formed in the mind’s eye. It can be sufficient to simply think or sense an image.
